Security Warning!

by Thomas J. Allen

Security Warning! Be aware of a new phishing email going around to gain access to your GoDaddy Account to steal your domains. I received this email today and since I'm very aware of these scams, many others are not aware of this phishing tactic. The website that asks for your login info is hosted on GoDaddy as I just reported to them. GoDaddy will always email you from godaddy.com not any other address. As this email below was sent from "godaddyadmin2@workspacereqgodaddecentre.com". and was linking me to their website to gain access to my personal login. If you receive this type email, report it to GoDaddy immediately and do not enter in your personal login info. ...

Claims: "W3C develops interoperable technologies (specifications, guidelines, software, and tools) to lead the Web to its full potential." As I write this blog entry, I'm very concerned on the stupidity of the W3C folks who dictate what is considered standard coding when formatting websites. Code that we had working fine with no errors all of a sudden showed this: So from W3C dictation they claim now using a simple <style> tag inside your websites body is now bad! You heard me, Bad! What style is used for: The <style> element is used to add CSS style rules to an HTML document. The element is expected to appear in the document <head>, but will also render acceptably when used in the <body> of the document. So W3C knows better then those who created the <style> usage and now dictates errors for a legit usage of <style>. Many...

A New Shopping Cart This has been an interesting month to say the least. This month I was hired to build up a new website for a local Italian restaurant with an online order area. As I normally do, is to build an order area and link it up to our Advanced Cart (PHP) software. But as I was contemplating this, something hit me! If they are ordering food, will it be really annoying to have the cart popup for every add to cart click. The answer, yes! it would. If I were ordering Pizza, or other food dishes I would want the process to go smooth and everything happening on one page with no page refresh or popups. So my solution was to build a brand new shopping cart from scratch using nothing other than JavaScript. Yes of course the processing part uses PHP to link to the merchant processor, but the over all functionality that will be on the order page would be designed in JavaScript and the data is stored in cookies. Now for the hard part! As with PHP we can store all items in sessions on the...
